President Lee Jae Myung, who is visiting the United States and three South American countries, arrived in Argentina, his last visit to South America, on the afternoon of the 30th (local time). It is the first time in 22 years that a South Korean president has officially visited Argentina since 2004.

On the 31st, President Lee will visit San Martin Square in honor of Argentine independence hero Jose de San Martin and attend an official welcoming ceremony at Casa Rosada, the presidential palace.

After that, he will hold a summit with Argentine President Javier Milay to discuss ways to expand economic cooperation between the two countries and boost trade and investment.

After the summit, President Lee will hold a dinner meeting with his local compatriots to conclude his tour of South America linking Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.

“This visit will allow us to expand trade investment and market development with Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, South America’s key economic powers,” Wi Sung-rak, head of the National Security Office, said in a preliminary briefing. “It is meaningful to expand South Korea’s diplomatic horizon to global South Korea.”
