Hyundai Motor said its electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Ioniq 9, proved its product competitiveness by beating Volvo’s comparable rival model in an evaluation by Auto Motor und Sport, a leading German automotive magazine.

According to the industry on the 4th, Auto Motor und Sport recently released the results of a comparison test between the Ioniq 9 and the Volvo EX90 Twin Motor AWD. The Ioniq 9 scored a total of 572 points, edging out the EX90 Twin Motor AWD (555 points) by 17 points. The evaluation focused on seven categories: body, safety, comfort, powertrain, driving performance, eco-friendliness, and economy.

Regarding the Ioniq 9’s body, Auto Motor und Sport praised it as “a multi-purpose luxury SUV that can comfortably transport six passengers.” It also gave high marks to the ability to quickly fold the third-row seats using electronic switches and to operate the second-row seat leg rests electrically.

In the powertrain category, the magazine assessed that the vehicle has powerful performance, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just five seconds. It also highlighted the Ioniq 9’s ample cargo space of up to 2,494 liters.
