I’ll never forget the first time I saw an LG Gram. It was 2015, and while LG was already well established in the premium PC market, it was about to make a significant philosophical and engineering shift with its first premium Ultrabook.

As I opened the box, I could tell it had a big screen, but would it still be portable? When I picked it up, my jaw-dropped to the ground. It was so much lighter than I could have anticipated. I literally walked around the office asking people to guess the weight and then watched the shock on their face as I handed them the LG gram laptop.

It was a game changer then, and it’s only improved since.

The 2026 LG gram

Fast forward a decade, and the LG gram still can’t be beat for those seeking an ultra-portable, premium, durable, big screen laptop experience. The smaller offering, if you can believe it, is still an immersive, workspace-friendly 16-inches. The 16-Inch LG gram Pro (32GB RAM / 1TB SSD Storage) is $4,199 RRP and the 16-inch LG gram Pro (16GB RAM / 512GB SSD Storage) at $3,599 models are in Australia , or you can go even larger with the 17-Inch LG gram Pro (32GB RAM / 1TB SSD Storage) at $4,299 RRP.

You will find two other variants of the 17-inch LG gram available, too. One for $3,999 RRP (16GB RAM / 1TB SSD Storage) and one for $3,699 RRP (16GB RAM / 512GB SSD Storage).

It’s TOPS

You’ve no doubt seen the term TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) a lot in recent years and it’s the big topic with the new 2026 LG gram range. TOPS is a metric that indicates the capability of a laptop’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – its AI speed.

The 2026 LG gram makes the leap to the latest generation of Intel’s CPU range, known as Panther Lake. Both the 16-inch and the 17-inch laptops are powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 355 CPU, which is designed to maximise efficiency. The gains are significant.

The 2026 LG gram delivers a stunning 50 TOPS of AI power; a huge step up from last year’s model.

This is vitally important in being able to achieve more, with less. With so much more AI processing power, the work that used to drain the CPU and GPU – regular AI features like blurring a web call’s background – is now run by a dedicated chip. That allows LG to opt for a cooler, less hungry CPU without compromising the AI experience.

Less heat equals less cooling, which means less bulk. Plus, less power demand also means a smaller 77Wh battery, yet a longer, all-day battery life LG rates at up to 27.5-hours.

Even better, LG isn’t just borrowing Copilot+ – it has its own on device AI. LG’s gram chat runs its own EXAONE model directly on the laptop, so it can do key tasks – like search and summarise documents – with no internet at all. Yep, even on a plane!

Next-Level Portability

The heart of the LG gram experience has always been pairing a lightweight, ultra-portable design with serious screen real estate and premium finishes. By leaning into AI power, rather than entering a CPU arms race, the 16-inch model only weighs 1,239g.

The 17-inch LG gram does weigh a tad more, but it’s still just 1,379g. Incredible really for that screen size. It’s thin, too, as little as just 13.1mm – although it tapers upwards to 15.2mm at the hinge. (It’s 13.3 to 15.98mm for the 17-inch).

For commuters who need to carry their laptop with them to school or work, this lightweight, super-slim design is simple to manoeuvre in a backpack or shoulder bag. This allows you to get something closer to your desktop workspace when you’re on the go, without ever falling short on battery life.

It’s ready to tackle anything your daily adventure might throw at it, too. Light doesn’t mean weak, with the 2026 LG gram’s new high-strength alloy composite chassis, known as Aerominium, providing scratch resistance and strength.

Indeed, it passed seven of the MIL-STD-810H evaluations, which are military-standard durability tests.

More than Just a Big Screen

I love a big screen; it just makes work so much easier. You can see more, so you can do more. As well as its wide dimensions, the 2026 LG gram’s screen uses the larger 16:10 aspect ratio, with crisp (2560x1600px resolution), bright (350nits) and colourful (DCI-P3 99% / up to 1500:1 contrast) visuals.

All the extra modern goodies are on hand, too. Think fast connectivity (Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6), two Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB4) and HDMI 2.1. There’s a backlit keyboard, which is vital for working in dark environments, web calling (FHD camera with dual mics) and for those moments when you get to relax with a movie, Dolby Atmos support.

All this, and it doesn’t ever weigh as much as a pineapple!
