Korean tech company LG has finally launched the LG xboom Blast, a new high-output portable Bluetooth speaker built with a rugged design for outdoor situations such as beach trips, campsites, and poolside gatherings, the speaker balances heavy-duty weather protection with up to 220 watts of power and up to 36-hour battery life.
That being said, the speaker is encased in a fabric exterior with protective end bumpers, along with IP68 dust and water-resistance. LG adds that the xboom Blast has passed seven military-grade durability tests, which should add a bit of peace of mind for users. Powering the system is a replaceable 99-watt-hour battery, which according to LG is backed by “Play Time Enhance technology,” enabling up to 36 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.

As for audio, LG has worked with musician will.i.am to develop the speaker’s custom acoustic profile. Inside, the xboom Blast uses dual 5.25-inch neodymium woofers and twin 20-millimeter Peerless tweeters, which allow for the advertised 220W sound output when plugged into AC power (and up to 210W on battery). It can connect to other devices via Bluetooth streaming and a wired USB-C port for audio playback.
Other features include “AI Sound” which analyzes playback material in order to fine-tune EQ settings, and “Space Calibration Pro” which adjusts frequency output based on immediate surrounding obstacles. LG has also added a Dual Ring Lighting feature which uses AI to sync light patterns with playlist tempos and genres. Users can also link multiple compatible speakers wirelessly using Auracast technology.
LG will begin rolling out the xboom Blast in select global markets this month, with availability expanding to additional regions later this year.
