Seoul National University and Hanwha have joined forces to conduct research in defense artificial intelligence.
Seoul National University said on the 14th that it signed an agreement on the 12th with Hanwha Aerospace (012450.KS) to strengthen education and research capabilities in advanced fields such as defense AI. The signing ceremony was attended by Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Dong-kwan Kim, Seoul National University President Yoo Hong-lim, Hanwha Aerospace board Chairman Kim Seung-mo and Chief Executive Lee Boo-hwan.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will work to build defense AI research infrastructure. Hanwha plans to construct the “Hanwha AI Frontier Building” at Seoul National University and to raise related donations. Based on this, the two sides plan to promote research in defense AI and cultivate specialized talent to enhance the competitiveness of the national defense industry.
Vice Chairman Kim said, “I hope this agreement will serve as a foundation for students and researchers to take on new possibilities and produce world-class research achievements.” President Yoo stressed, “We will further strengthen education, research and industry-academia cooperation in defense AI to deliver world-class research achievements and nurture creative, interdisciplinary global talent.”
