Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended an unusual meeting of the People’s Power floor and strongly criticized the government’s real estate policy. In other words, the regulation has violated the people’s freedom of residence transfer. The People’s Power held an emergency debate on the real estate tax reform and poured out criticism from all walks of life.

On the 14th, Mayor Oh attended a meeting of the People’s Power at the main building of the National Assembly building and said, “A full review should be made to the policy of sticking to the actual residence, which shakes the rental market and raises the public’s pain. The situation continues to violate the freedom of residence,” he criticized. “It is actually a tax increase to reduce the deduction benefits of long-term homeowners and increase the tax burden because they cannot live in their own homes due to circumstances. It is a violent symptom that passes the responsibility for policy failure to the people,” he pointed out.

In particular, Mayor Oh responded to President Lee Jae Myung’s remarks that he was a supply cliff from 2022 to now, saying, “The adverse effects of Mayor Park Won-soon’s decade are still affecting.”

Floor leader Chung Je-sik added, “If the government is consistent with punitive regulations as it is now, the polarization of real estate in the metropolitan area and provinces cannot be resolved.”

Meanwhile, differences were expressed between floor leader Chung and Secretary-General Chung Hee-yong over Mayor Oh’s attendance at the People’s Power floor meeting. This is because Secretary-General Chung raised the issue of Mayor Oh’s attendance, saying, “It doesn’t make sense.”
