President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating has fallen for five consecutive weeks, hitting a new low. Although the government has announced real estate measures covering taxation, finance, and supply, it is believed to be due to the continued public backlash.
On the 17th, Realmeter announced the results of a poll conducted on 2,511 voters aged 18 or older nationwide from the 10th to the 14th at the request of the Energy Economy Newspaper. President Lee’s approval rating was 43 percent, down 0.3 percentage point from last week. It continued its downward trend for five consecutive weeks, breaking the “low since taking office.”
During the same period, negative evaluation rose 1.1 percentage points to 54.1%. In other words, negative evaluation outpaced approval ratings outside the margin of error (±2.0 percentage points) for three consecutive weeks. President Lee’s approval rating fell sharply in Incheon, Gyeonggi Province (2.6 percentage points), Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province (2.4 percentage points), 60s (6.1 percentage points), and progressives (4.6 percentage points).
In response, Realmeter analyzed, “The confusion over the real estate tax reform plan and the public backlash against young people’s housing caused by the controversy over the remarks on abandoned bus youth housing have accumulated policy confidence, leading to a drop in positive evaluation.”
The poll was conducted in a wireless automatic response method, with a 95% confidence level and a sampling error of ±2.0 percentage points. For more information, please refer to the website of the Central Election Public Opinion Review Council.
