In a statement shared with WJCL 22 News, Hyundai Motor North America said:
“Hyundai Motor Group is investing $26 billion to expand its U.S. operations through 2028, reinforcing a robust U.S. manufacturing base.
Hyundai remains committed to producing more than 80 percent of the vehicles it sells in the U.S. domestically by 2030.
We continuously evaluate demand and market conditions to identify opportunities to increase U.S. production.
At present, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is targeted to produce up to 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles annually.
We are evaluating opportunities to add production capacity in the U.S., but no final decisions have been made, and we have nothing further to announce at this time.”
The statement confirms the company is evaluating additional production capacity, but no expansion has been approved.
