Chicago is about to become the center of the K-pop universe as international pop sensation BTS prepares to return to Soldier Field next week for two highly anticipated concerts. The global superstars are scheduled to perform Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28, bringing their ARIRANG World Tour to the city for a pair of stadium shows both scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
The ARIRANG World Tour is billed by Soldier Field as the biggest global K-pop tour of all time and the largest tour of BTS’ career. The tour is in support of the group’s most recent album of the same name, with the campaign kicking off back on April 9 in the band’s home country of Korea. Ultimately, the massive journey will span nearly 34 regions and 79 shows by its conclusion.
BTS is composed of seven members, all from South Korea, who were amalgamated into its current boy-band format by record label Big Hit Entertainment, one of the country’s prominent “star factories” known for developing and promoting K-pop music acts. The group first debuted in 2013 but didn’t reach critical and mainstream appeal until their breakthrough 2015 hit “I Need U.” Since then, the band has skyrocketed to international stardom, becoming one of the biggest draws in the music industry, including five Grammy nominations and becoming the highest-selling K-pop band in history with $160M in equivalent record sales according to ChartMaster.

The group last headlined Soldier Field in 2019, when its Chicago performances became a landmark moment for the city’s K-pop community. The full ensemble has not embarked on a complete tour together since their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE tour in 2021 and 2022. During the hiatus, members of the group launched solo careers as well as completed South Korea’s mandatory military service, which requires all able-bodied men to enlist for 18-21 months. The triumphant return of the full group to stadium stages has therefore generated enormous anticipation among longtime fans.
Doors for the BTS shows are scheduled to open at 6 p.m., with parking lots available at 4 p.m. There will be no opening act accompanying BTS.

For longtime ARMY members (the name used for BTS groupies) and newcomers alike, next week, Chicago gets two nights with one of the biggest music acts in the world.
