This week was a fairly busy one for Galaxy updates. The August 2026 security patch reached a few more devices, several Samsung apps and accessories picked up updates, and a pair of nine-year-old phones got a surprise. One UI 9 itself also gained a couple of useful touches.
What we still did not get is the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, which is now becoming the wait everyone is feeling.
August 2026 security patch keeps rolling out
The August 2026 security update continued its rollout, though at a gentler pace than during the opening week. The Galaxy XCover 7 picked up the August patch, while in a slightly unusual turn the Galaxy Watch 4 got its August update ahead of newer models.
The August release fixes close to five dozen vulnerabilities, which includes 38 Android flaws, 8 of them critical, plus 18 Samsung-specific issues.

Separately, Galaxy phones are also getting Google’s August 2026 Play System update, which arrives independently of Samsung’s own security patch.

One UI 9 gets a couple of useful additions
While One UI 9.5 continues to surface through leaks and internal builds, the current One UI 9 release itself also picked up a couple of worthwhile changes.
Samsung made Galaxy Device Care easier to use, while there is also a fun new way to use Motion Photos. Still no sign of the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 lineup. It was widely expected before now, and another week has gone by without it.
App and accessory updates
A steady week for Samsung’s own apps. One UI Home got a fresh update with bug fixes, the latest Galaxy Buds 3 Pro update finished reaching users worldwide, and Samsung Wonderland gained improved 3D effects.
Outside Samsung’s own stable, Android Auto 17.4 finally fixed a long-standing connection bug that has been irritating drivers for months.
There was also a hint about where a Galaxy S26 feature is headed: the Galaxy S26 FE could get My FanCam, which suggests a wider rollout than the flagships.
One UI 9.5 is still showing up in leaks
One UI 9.5 was everywhere this week, but most of what surfaced came from internal builds and other leaks rather than software that users can install.
One internal build revealed a Satellite Connectivity Hub and a debugging-only USB mode. Another leak suggested that One UI 9.5 could let users build their own custom widgets.

For this roundup, though, it is worth keeping those developments separate from the actual update rollouts. The One UI 9.5 builds surfacing right now are internal or leaked software, not releases Galaxy owners can install.
