LG Innotek held a recruitment-linked event in the United States to secure global talent in future growth areas such as robotics and physical artificial intelligence (AI).
The South Korean company announced on the 25th that it recently hosted “Inno Connect,” an overseas talent recruitment event, at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event invites outstanding talent from leading U.S. universities to introduce the company’s vision and technology leadership, and has been held annually in the U.S. since 2024.
This year’s event was attended in person by Chief Technology Officer Min Joon, Chief Human Resources Officer Lee Dong-hoon, and other key executives overseeing research and development (R&D). Around 30 master’s, doctoral, and experienced professionals from 16 major U.S. universities were invited, including Stanford University, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Yale University, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Participants’ primary research areas included physical AI—encompassing robotics and autonomous driving—advanced packaging, and next-generation optics. These fields directly align with the pillars of LG Innotek’s recent business portfolio upgrade. The company’s strategy is to secure future growth engines by leveraging its physical AI business and semiconductor substrate business, both of which offer strong growth potential and profitability.
During the event, LG Innotek researchers introduced the latest technology trends and R&D status by participants’ areas of expertise. An “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) session with executives was also arranged, where the company shared not only its technological competitiveness but also its talent development philosophy and support programs for professional growth.
CTO Min Joon said, “LG Innotek is a global company with solid partnerships with world-class Big Tech firms, and at the heart of that are world-renowned, top-tier talents.” He added, “We hope you will become key players leading the physical AI era by exercising your capabilities at LG Innotek, which provides the optimal opportunities and environment to grow into experts in your respective fields.”
Beyond the U.S. event, LG Innotek is diversifying its global talent acquisition channels. The company operates a “Global Internship” program each year for international and Korean students at domestic and overseas universities and graduate schools, with outstanding participants converted to full-time hires. Orion Vietnam, the company’s overseas strategic production base, has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with major local universities including Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University, and is running recruitment-linked programs such as contract departments, internships, and career guidance.
The LA event is seen as part of LG Innotek’s efforts to strengthen its talent acquisition competitiveness as it restructures its business around semiconductor substrates and physical AI. The choice of location—a region dense with major science and engineering universities on the U.S. West Coast—reflects the company’s intent to expand its reach to high-caliber talent in robotics and advanced packaging.
