Expanding the Training and Recruitment of Local Human Resources in the Southeast Region

Hanwha Aerospace donated 200 million won to quickly restore Gyeongnam, which has recently been damaged by torrential rain. In addition to responding to disasters, cooperation with Gyeongnam will be strengthened, including investment in advanced aviation engines, space and defense, and expansion of local talent training and recruitment.
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 25th that it has delivered 200 million won in subsidies for disaster and disaster recovery activities to Gyeongnam Province at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government.
Lee Bu-hwan, the new CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, Governor of Gyeongnam Province Park Wan-soo, and Shin Moon-hyun, head of the Gyeongnam Volunteer Center, attended the delivery ceremony. Hanwha Aerospace plans to first use the subsidy to restore recently hit areas and support affected residents, and use it for emergency relief activities in the future in the event of disasters such as typhoons, heavy rains, and heat waves.
In particular, donations will be invested in providing daily necessities, food supplies, and operating food trucks so that practical support can be provided at the so-called “Golden Time” in the early stages of the disaster. It will also push for a plan to produce a “Hanwha Relief Kit” tailored to the type of disaster and the recovery site in advance and provide support to victims and on-site relief personnel.
With this donation, Hanwha Aerospace will also participate in the establishment of a public-private and corporate cooperation system that can quickly carry out relief activities in the event of a disaster with Gyeongnam Province and Gyeongnam Volunteer Center.
CEO Lee Bu-hwan said, “We have provided support to quickly respond to disasters experienced by the local community and provide practical help in recovering the damage. We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as a growing company with the local community.”
Governor Park Wan-soo said, “We deeply appreciate Hanwha Aerospace for preemptively practicing sharing for volunteers and victims, who are the biggest help at the disaster site,” adding, “We will work together to speed up the daily recovery of the victims.”
Hanwha Aerospace discussed not only disaster recovery but also cooperation measures for the development of the aerospace and defense industries in South Gyeongsang Province at the meeting with South Gyeongsang Province.
Hanwha Aerospace plans to cooperate in the creation of a high-tech aviation engine-specific complex centered on Changwon National Industrial Complex, and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic aviation engine industry through research and development in the aviation engine sector, infrastructure advancement, and manpower training.
Regarding the project to upgrade the Korean launch vehicle, since he is in charge of manufacturing the 5th and 6th units following the production of the NURI No. 4, he discussed the preparation for the 5th launch of the NURI in October and ways to expand participation in the production of the projectile by Gyeongnam companies.
Plans to expand regional investment in the aerospace and defense sectors were also discussed. Hanwha Group has announced plans to invest 55 trillion won in aerospace and AI by 2040. Hanwha Aerospace plans to continue cooperation with Gyeongnam Province so that investments in the space industry and defense AI fields, such as satellites and projectiles, can lead to the growth of companies and talents in Gyeongnam.
It will also promote the cultivation and recruitment of local talent. On the 12th, Hanwha signed a “business agreement to cultivate and hire local talents in the Southeast region” with Gyeongnam Province and others and decided to expand employment opportunities for local youth by cultivating talents necessary for major industries in the region such as aerospace and defense.
Accordingly, Hanwha Aerospace plans to expand the cultivation and recruitment of industry-specific talents in connection with local universities and educational institutions, and Gyeongnam Province plans to support companies to stably cultivate talents needed in the region.
Hanwha Aerospace plans to expand its win-win foundation with Gyeongnam by investing in aerospace and defense fields and fostering human resources along with social contribution activities with local communities in the event of a disaster.
