One-million-square-foot lease by LG Electronics Canada will expand its GTA footprint by more than 280,000 square feet as it relocates existing operations to King Jane Business Park
LG Electronics Canada is expanding and set to occupy nearly one million square feet of industrial space in King City, bringing a major distribution operation to King Jane Business Park.
The company has leased 984,176 square feet across two buildings at the development, in what Nicola Real Estate says is its largest lease by square footage.
The new facility will support LG’s Canadian distribution and supply chain operations. The deal will also expand the company’s GTA footprint by more than 280,000 square feet while relocating its existing operations.
King Jane Business Park is located at King Road and Jane Street and will eventually include five buildings totalling 1.7 million square feet.
The development is designed for large-scale industrial users, featuring a 40-foot clear height, rooftop solar panels, heavy-power capacity and loading facilities. The site is about one kilometre from the Highway 400 interchange.
Construction of the two buildings leased by LG is expected to be completed in 2027.
King Mayor Steve Pellegrini said LG’s decision to invest in King Township is a tremendous vote of confidence in the community and its future.
“This nearly one-million-square-foot logistics and distribution facility is expected to create approximately 300 jobs, making LG one of King’s largest employers and providing opportunities for more residents to work closer to home,” Pellegrini said. “The facility has also contributed approximately $39.8 million in development charges, including $12.2 million for King Township, helping fund essential infrastructure and community services.”
He said the investment expands the township’s non-residential tax base and reduces reliance on residential property taxes, while reinforcing King’s reputation as a destination for business investment and growth.
Nicola Real Estate said the project is being developed with sustainability in mind, with all five buildings expected to receive Zero Carbon Building-Design Certification through the Canada Green Building Council. Building A, the first completed building at the site, has already received certification.
Building A, which contains 418,402 square feet, has been completed and remains available for lease. Two further buildings measuring 132,693 and 136,886 square feet are planned for a later phase.
