South Gyeongsang Province will invest 2.8687 trillion won by 2030 with the aim of jumping to become one of the world’s four major powerhouses in K-bangsan. The plan is to strengthen the competitiveness of the defense supply chain through joint growth of large defense companies and small and medium-sized suppliers.
South Gyeongsang Province Governor Park Wan-soo stressed at a meeting on the “Win-Winness Practice of Defense Industry” held at the provincial government on the 27th that “shared growth with suppliers that support materials, parts and technologies is essential for K-bangsan’s continued export expansion and competitiveness.”
Gyeongsangnam-do Province has set a goal of fostering 300 small and medium-sized companies with 30 trillion won in defense sales, 40,000 workers, 85% localization rate of major components, and 1 billion won in sales by 2030. In particular, it focused on creating a structure in which the performance of large defense companies spreads to suppliers.
At the meeting, large defense companies such as Hanwha Aerospace, Hyundai Rotem, and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), 20 mid- and small-sized defense companies, and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration attended the meeting to discuss win-win measures.
Governor Park said, “Please take the lead in shared growth with small and medium-sized suppliers, which are strong support of K-bangsan in large and related organizations.”
