POSCO’s Shared Growth Group is the “Steel One Team,” here we go! Through the activities of the POSCO Shared Growth Support Group, it has expanded customized support for companies in Pohang and Gwangyang.
This activity was conducted with the aim of continuing shared growth activities by focusing on on-site support for local companies as Pohang and Gwangyang regions were designated as pre-emptive industrial crisis response areas in 2025.
In the first half of 2026, the Shared Growth Support Group discovered 79 of the 109 improvement projects in Pohang and Gwangyang, and completed 23 of them. Among them, POSCO provided support to small and medium-sized companies in Pohang to analyze and improve the cause of abnormalities in field facilities in connection with the steel mill’s facility technology department.
Geumhong Company and Gwangyang Tech in Gwangyang also collaborated with the DX Strategy Office to conduct security diagnosis and support improvement of emergency security processes related to ransomware infection.
The results of linking government and institutional support projects were also remarkable. In the first half of the year, the Shared Growth Support Group provided consulting services to 15 companies in various fields to match them to receive a total of 3.3 billion won in support benefits.
Through this, Pohang-area companies Korea Cooperation was selected for the smart ecological plant construction project by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, and companies in the Gwangyeong area will also receive some of the project costs in connection with the industrial complex’s smart energy platform construction project.
POSCO visited 38 companies in the region to check the difficulties and status of the site to improve the safety capability rating of companies participating in the construction.
Park Dae-won, director of BH Tech, who received the benefit of the program, said, “There were many difficulties because it was not easy to respond on his own while preparing to raise the company’s safety capability level,” adding, “It was very helpful with the full support of safety experts.”
