U.S. President Donald Trump said South Korea and Japan will participate in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the process of highlighting his achievements ahead of the Alaska federal Senate election.

President Trump told reporters at the White House on the 2nd (local time) that “we’ve invested billions of dollars (in Alaska) and created trillions of dollars in value. There’s Japan, there’s Korea,” he said.

“All of these guys are going to Alaska to load fuel, load oil, build pipelines, do everything else,” he stressed.

President Trump’s remarks came as he said he would “go to Alaska” to help Republican candidate Dan Sullivan, who is seeking a third term in the local federal Senate race.

President Trump mentioned South Korea and Japan after saying, “Dan Sullivan is a great senator” and “No one has helped Alaska as much as Donald Trump.”

In January, President Trump introduced the trade agreement between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, referring to the Alaska Pipeline Project to export natural gas to Asia.

At the time, President Trump emphasized, “We secured an unprecedented level of funds by concluding (trade) agreements with South Korea and Japan.”

President Trump has been talking about the possibility of large-scale investments from South Korea and Japan over the Alaska LNG project.

The Alaska LNG project has been promoted with the idea of constructing a 1300km pipeline connecting Alaska’s north and south to meet internal energy needs and export abroad.
