Assembly Members Ed Braunstein and Sam Berger have announced $200,000 in state funding to support the installation of a new fire alarm at Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS) in Bayside.
Braunstein and Berger announced the funding on Sept. 3, stating that the upgrade would allow KCS to continue to grow and expand the services it offers while also ensuring a safe environment for the increasing number of community members who rely on its programs and services.
“This state grant to update the fire alarm system at the Bayside headquarters will help KCS continue to serve the local community safely and effectively,” Braunstein said in a statement. “Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York does critical work providing culturally competent programming in the areas of Aging, Education, Immigration, Mental Health and more.”
Berger, meanwhile, described KCS as a “vital resource” to the local community, adding that the organization’s facilities “must grow” to match its expansion.
“This funding will help KCS ensure its fire alarm system is adequate for the needs of its expanding services and, most importantly, help keep the people they serve safe,” Berger said.
KCS President Myoungmi Kim said she was “incredibly grateful” for the investment, adding that the funding will help create a safer environment for everyone who uses the organization’s Bayside headquarters.
“This investment will allow us to make critical improvements to our fire alarm system, helping us maintain a safer environment for our staff, clients, and community members,” Kim said in a statement.
