This marks an 11 percentage point decline from his 48.4% approval in the third week of July, and a 21.7 percentage point drop compared to just before the June 3 local elections. Factors contributing to this decline are believed to include controversies surrounding appointments and confusion over real estate tax policies.

Seoul, 20s and 30s See Approval Ratings in the 20s

Regionally, Seoul’s approval rating for the president plummeted by 6.0 percentage points from the previous week to 29.0%. Across age groups, support among young people remained in the 20s, with 18-29 year olds at 28.8% and those in their 30s at 29.8%. Notably, young men showed particularly low support, with 20-somethings at 21.4% and 30-somethings at 20.8%. Support from swing voters also fell by 5.5 percentage points to 35.9%.

Democratic Party at 41.8%, People Power Party at 37.6% – 4.2%p Gap

In terms of party support, the Democratic Party recorded 41.8% while the People Power Party garnered 37.6%. The gap between the two parties was 4.2 percentage points, remaining within the margin of error for the third consecutive week. Although the Democratic Party’s support also fell by 1.3 percentage points from the previous week, the People Power Party only saw a marginal 0.1 percentage point decrease, suggesting they failed to gain significant reflective benefits. The Jo Guk Innovation Party stood at 4.5%, the New Reform Party at 2.3%, and undecided voters at 10.5%.
