Kakao Pay Securities has expanded its stock trading service to the KakaoBank application, allowing KakaoBank users to buy and sell domestic and overseas stocks and exchange-traded funds without switching to a separate app.

Kakao Pay Securities said on the 8th that it opened a “stock home” section in the investment tab of the KakaoBank app on the 4th of this month through a partnership with the bank.

Users can trade domestic and overseas stocks, ETFs and exchange-traded notes through the KakaoBank app. They can check stock information and prices and then place buy and sell orders within the same app.

Key features previously available in the securities tab of the Kakao Pay app have also been moved over. Users can view charts, order books and watchlists, and access an investor community as well as a recurring stock purchase feature.

The company also applied a customized stock home that varies the screen layout according to investment experience, separating the information and features needed by first-time investors from those needed by existing investors.

To use the service, customers link a Kakao Pay Securities account and a KakaoBank account held in their own name. Those without a Kakao Pay Securities account can open a bank account and then a securities account through the KakaoBank app.

Deposits for stock purchases and withdrawals of sale proceeds are also processed through the linked KakaoBank account.

Kakao Pay Securities plans to add related services such as a 26-week ETF accumulation plan and a random stock draw, and to expand links among Kakao’s financial affiliates.

“As payments, transfers, deposits and investment come together in a single flow, we will help more users easily understand investment information and build an experience that matches their own investment goals and preferences,” Kakao Pay Securities CEO Shin Ho-chul said.
