Samsung is taking its One UI 9 beta program to more mid-range phones. The Galaxy A55 is now getting beta access, giving owners of the popular 2024 mid-range phone an early chance to try Samsung’s Android 17-based software. Previously, the beta program opened for the Galaxy A57, A56, and A36, along with a bunch of flagship products.
Galaxy A55 joins Samsung’s One UI 9 beta program
The Galaxy A55 launched in 2024 with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, with Samsung promising four generations of Android OS upgrades for the device. One UI 9 (Android 17) will therefore be its third major Android upgrade. The rollout is expected later this year. However, users in Korea (and potentially select other regions) can try out the update early, thanks to this beta launch.
In supported markets, Galaxy A55 users can enrol in the One UI 9 Beta program through the Samsung Members app. Simply look for the beta program banner and tap to proceed. Once registered, an update will arrive on your phone, and you can download it from Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The first beta release for the Galaxy A55 carries the build version ZZI1 and weighs over 2.1GB. As usual, the build number and update size may vary depending on the region. However, expect the same set of content everywhere. It’s One UI 9, meaning a collection of interface improvements, customization options, AI-powered features, and other changes across the system. Keep in mind that beta software can contain bugs and stability issues, so backing up important data before installing it is strongly recommended.

As said earlier, Samsung has also launched the One UI 9 beta program for several other devices, including budget models and flagships. Recent expansions suggest the company may be preparing for a much broader stable rollout soon.
