The top net-buying stocks among high-return investors trading at Mirae Asset Securities on Tuesday morning were Samsung Electronics, LS Electric, and SK hynix, in that order.

According to Mirae Asset Securities, the stock most heavily bought by “stock masters” — investors ranked in the top 1% by investment return over the past month — as of 11 a.m. was Samsung Electronics (005930.KS).

As of 11:39 a.m., Samsung Electronics was trading at 229,250 won, up 3.97% from the previous session, according to the Korea Exchange. Market analysts see sufficient room for the stock to surpass 300,000 won. On the same day, Daol Investment & Securities (target price of 390,000 won), Korea Investment & Securities (370,000 won), Hanwha Investment & Securities (330,000 won), Hana Securities (330,000 won), NH Investment & Securities (310,000 won), and Samsung Securities (300,000 won) released reports raising their target prices for Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics posted record first-quarter earnings on a consolidated basis, with revenue of 133.87 trillion won and operating profit of 57.23 trillion won ($41.8 billion). Compared with the first quarter of last year, revenue rose 69.2% and operating profit surged 756.1%. The Device Solutions (DS) division, which handles the semiconductor business, drove the results with revenue of 81.7 trillion won and operating profit of 53.7 trillion won. Demand for high-value-added products such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM) is rising on the back of expanded artificial intelligence (AI) investment, while prices of legacy semiconductors such as DRAM are climbing, pushing profit margins higher.

LS Electric, ranked second, was trading at 288,500 won, up 3.78%. The main driver of the rally is surging demand from AI data centers. LS Electric recently secured a new 320 billion won order to supply North American data centers. Global big tech firms are pouring massive capital into building and operating AI data centers, and power equipment stocks — a core component — are expected to remain strong. Data centers require stable, round-the-clock supply of massive amounts of electricity, making high-efficiency, high-reliability distribution equipment essential.

SK hynix (000660.KS) saw its market capitalization surpass 1,000 trillion won on the day, while its share price broke through 1.4 million won, making “1.4 million-nix” a reality. The company posted a record first-quarter operating profit of 37.61 trillion won, and earnings momentum is expected to continue as AI infrastructure investment expands. Major brokerages are scrambling to raise their target prices. Daol Investment & Securities sharply raised its target price for SK hynix to 2.1 million won from 1.6 million won. Korea Investment & Securities and KB Securities set their targets at 2.05 million won and 2 million won, respectively.

“Some are raising concerns about a market peak, but the AI industry is still in its early stages,” an industry official said. “Core companies in the related value chain will continue to deliver strong earnings.”

The top net-selling stocks on the day were Samsung Electronics preferred shares, Hyundai Rotem, and Spire, in that order. On the previous trading day, the top net-buying stocks were SK hynix, TFE, and Samsung Electronics preferred shares. The top net-selling stocks on the previous day were DL E&C, APR, and SK Square.
