SK AX has partnered with OpenAI to expand its enterprise generative artificial intelligence (AI) business, following similar moves by Samsung SDS and LG CNS.

SK AX signed a “service partner agreement for enterprise AI business cooperation” with OpenAI, the company said Friday. Through the partnership, SK AX plans to provide AI environments tailored to each company’s work conditions and security requirements, based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise.

While generative AI tools such as ChatGPT are spreading rapidly within companies, many firms are struggling to connect them to existing work processes and systems to generate tangible results. “Shadow AI,” in which employees use AI for work without separate security and management frameworks, is also emerging as a risk. To address these concerns, the two companies plan to combine the ChatGPT Enterprise-based AI environment with SK AX’s industry-specific system design, construction, and operation capabilities, aiming to boost productivity across corporate operations and ease data security concerns.

SK AX offers integrated services spanning the entire AX domain, including consulting, multi-agent construction and operation through internal system integration, security and governance frameworks, and change management for employees. AI architects, data specialists, and industry-specific domain experts work together to ensure generative AI is stably applied to companies’ actual work environments. ChatGPT Enterprise provides security and privacy protection features optimized for corporate environments. It expands the scope of work applications through features that can analyze and understand vast amounts of documents at once, along with advanced data analysis and various customization functions. SK AX links and operates these features in line with corporate systems and workflows to enhance the effectiveness of AI use.

“We will help enterprises achieve genuine AI transformation by redesigning internal structures, work processes, ways of working, and governance through AI integration, rather than simply adopting AI,” SK AX President Kim Wan-jong said. “Through our partnership with OpenAI, we will realize ‘AI augmentation’ that turns what people and companies do into something more valuable.”

“For ChatGPT Enterprise to deliver its value, it is important that it operates in line with each company’s work systems and flows, based on security and data control,” said Anthony Russell, Head of Partnerships for Asia Pacific at OpenAI. “SK AX is a partner that can apply AI to actual work based on its long-standing understanding and experience with industry-specific systems and data structures.”
