Naver (035420.KS) and Nvidia will jointly pursue the construction of ultra-large gigawatt (GW)-scale global artificial intelligence (AI) factories. Going beyond simple technological cooperation, the two companies plan to jointly advance global AI infrastructure businesses in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Naver said that Lee Hae-jin, chairman of Naver’s board, and Jensen Huang, chief executive officer (CEO) of Nvidia, will discuss a concrete roadmap for the business being pursued by the two companies and detailed cooperation plans for jointly entering global markets at Naver’s headquarters 1784 on Monday afternoon. The two companies have already agreed on a direction to secure leadership of the AI infrastructure ecosystem together, expanding beyond the Asia-Pacific region to the European and Middle Eastern markets.
The alliance is an integrated partnership that goes beyond a simple technology tie-up to jointly carry out every stage of the value chain, from discovering global demand to capital cooperation. In particular, Naver will participate as a key global partner that jointly bears responsibility for the performance and risks of the business. The two companies plan to swiftly push forward the construction of ultra-large AI factories that will become the standard for global AI infrastructure, in order to capture exploding worldwide AI demand.
Naver will first start the business at its core hub, the hyperscale data center “Gak Sejong.” Starting with the operation of 55 MW in the first half of 2027 as a signal, the company plans to expand its infrastructure scale overseas to 100 MW in the same year and 200 MW in 2028, absorbing global demand. In the long term, the goal is to build GW-scale infrastructure. One GW is about four times the maximum capacity of Gak Sejong, Naver’s largest domestic hyperscale data center, an overwhelming scale capable of simultaneously accommodating hundreds of thousands of Nvidia’s latest GPUs.
The two companies will also comprehensively advance their technological ties. Naver’s uniquely accumulated capabilities in building and operating large-scale proprietary GPU clusters and its hyperscale data center know-how will be fully integrated with Nvidia’s next-generation high-performance infrastructure platform “DSX.” Through this, they plan to maximize data center operational efficiency and significantly boost business viability.
In addition, next-generation technology cooperation in the field of spatial intelligence will begin in earnest, including building a “Seoul World Model” that utilizes Naver’s own spatial modeling and street view data on Nvidia’s world foundation model “Cosmos.” Earlier, Naver recently became the first Korean company to join the “Nvidia Nemotron Alliance,” which includes 12 global top-tier AI companies such as Cursor, Mistral AI, and Perplexity. Based on this, Naver is accelerating efforts to enhance the performance and secure the global versatility of HyperCLOVA X, its own hyperscale AI model.
Lee Hae-jin, chairman of Naver’s board, said, “It is very encouraging that through this alliance we can present a concrete alternative that allows each region and nation around the world to build their own sovereign AI capabilities.” He added, “This cooperation holds great significance in that it has created an opportunity for Naver’s technological infrastructure competitiveness to leap to the next level in the global market.”
