According to Mirae Asset Securities, the stock most heavily purchased through 11 a.m. by “stock masters” — those ranking in the top 1% for investment returns over the past month among the firm’s clients — was Samsung Electronics. These top traders also net-bought Samsung Electronics most heavily on Monday morning. Chip investment sentiment is reviving as the United States and Iran move closer to signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a truce.

Lee Min-hee, a researcher at BNK Investment & Securities, raised the target price for Samsung Electronics to 430,000 won in a report Tuesday. Explaining the move, Lee said, “Rising market interest rates had been the biggest variable in the second-half outlook for artificial intelligence (AI) capital expenditure, but with an early truce in Iran, the risk of rising government bond yields is expected to ease considerably.” Lee added, “Demand for system memory expansion remains strong with the adoption of agent AI, and the supply shortage environment and the spread of long-term contracts, centered on hyperscalers, are expected to continue into the second half.”

The second-most net-bought stock was Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The company was trading at 2,039,000 won, up 2%. Its shares have been strong after it announced it is moving into full-scale mass production of silicon capacitors, which handle stable power supply for AI semiconductors.

The third-most net-bought stock was Naver. Expectations over collaboration with Nvidia are analyzed to be influencing investment sentiment. Naver shares were trading at 245,500 won, down 1.01% from the previous day.

Defense stocks, on the other hand, were the most heavily sold. Despite news of the truce agreement between the United States and Iran, LIG Defense & Aerospace (079550.KS) surged 18.46% from the previous day, prompting top traders to take profits.

The previous trading day’s top net-buys were Samsung Electronics, Seojin System (178320.KQ), HVM (295310.KQ), Wonik IPS (240810.KQ) and Leeno Industrial (058470.KQ). The top net-sells were Samsung Electro-Mechanics, SK hynix, Korea Electric Power, SK and Hyundai Motor (005380.KS).
