Kim Yoon-ji, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), laid out a blueprint to strengthen the global competitiveness of K-content at her first official engagement since taking office. She also pledged that KOCCA would play a key role in achieving the government’s goals of a “400 trillion won K-culture market” and “$110 billion in content exports.”

In an opening address at the 2026 Content Industry Forum held at CKL Stage in Seoul on Monday, Kim stressed that the content industry has entered a new growth phase, and that competitiveness must be raised around intellectual property (IP) and artificial intelligence (AI). She said she would actively discover and nurture outstanding IP that can succeed in global markets, and expand support so that creators and content companies can proactively respond to the AI environment.

Support systems for overseas expansion will also be further strengthened. Kim explained that she would use the agency’s 28 overseas business hubs worldwide to expand customized support reflecting the market characteristics and demand of each country, and upgrade locally tailored services to broaden the foundation for domestic content companies’ global expansion.

She also presented the creation of an investment base for the content industry’s sustainable growth as a major task. She said she would foster an environment in which content companies can grow stably through expanded policy financing and the revitalization of private investment, and support more companies in challenging overseas markets.

The forum marks Kim’s first official public appearance since taking office. At the event, Lee Sang-bong, chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of Korea, and Song Ho-jun, secretary general of the Amorepacific Foundation, delivered keynote lectures on the globalization of Korea’s fashion and beauty industries. Shin Hye-ryeon, a professor at Myongji University; Lee Yu-gyeom, head of the distribution IP division at Mound Media; and Kim Nam-kyung, CEO of Maison Danha, shared cases of overseas expansion in the gaming, music, and fashion sectors.

The 2026 Content Industry Forum, held under the theme “K-Content That Moves the World and Enriches the Economy,” continues at CKL Stage in Seoul through Wednesday.
