Doosan Corp. (000150.KS) is launching a comprehensive business partnership with LG CNS (064400.KS) spanning artificial intelligence (AI), energy and robotics.
Doosan said Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG CNS the previous day at LG Science Park in Magok-dong, Seoul, to secure global competitiveness in data centers, hydrogen drone logistics, AI transformation (AX) and robot transformation (RX). The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both companies, including Doosan Corp. President Yoo Seung-woo and LG CNS President Hyun Shin-kyun.
The agreement was designed to combine the two companies’ core capabilities to secure future growth engines. The two sides plan to form a business cooperation task force within one month of signing the agreement and establish detailed operational plans.
First, they will seek synergies in the data center and cloud businesses. The companies plan to develop a specific plan to introduce Doosan Mobility Innovation’s high-efficiency hydrogen fuel cells (PEMFC) into LG CNS’s data center business, and will also discuss ways to advance Doosan Corp.’s cloud and data center infrastructure based on LG CNS’s technological capabilities.
They will also cooperate on logistics innovation using eco-friendly mobility. The two companies plan to develop joint cooperation measures to fully launch the hydrogen fuel cell-based vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) logistics business they have been pursuing together since 2025.
In the RX and AX fields, the two companies will fuse their advanced technologies. The approach combines hydrogen fuel cells with LG CNS’s robot learning and operation platform “Physical Works” to develop robot- and humanoid-related businesses. To strengthen Doosan Corp.’s agentic AI competitiveness, they also agreed to identify specific use cases based on LG CNS’s agentic AI platform and jointly establish an application roadmap.
In addition, the two companies agreed to work together to build autonomous maintenance systems (predictive maintenance, or PdM), including proposals for “anomaly diagnosis and repair scenarios” that apply agentic AI, hydrogen drones and digital twin technology to manufacturing and power generation facilities and large plants.
“We will create synergy effects by combining LG CNS’s unrivaled AX and RX capabilities with the technological prowess of a powerful partner in Doosan,” President Hyun said. “We will quickly produce cooperation results that lead to actual commercialization, from AI equipment prediction at manufacturing sites to industrial innovation using robots.”
President Yoo stressed, “We will build a new business model by combining Doosan’s advanced technological capabilities, accumulated in advanced materials, information technology (IT) and energy, with LG CNS’s AX capabilities. Through this cooperation spanning data centers, robots and AI, we will further enhance the future value of both companies.”
