Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) has unveiled a vision to expand its healthcare ecosystem centered on SmartThings, an AI home appliance platform with 460 million users worldwide.
According to Samsung Electronics on Saturday, Park Heon-soo, head of the digital health team at the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, attended a panel discussion at VivaTech 2026, Europe’s largest startup and tech expo held in Paris, France, on Thursday. “In the recent trend where the center of gravity in health management is shifting to the home, the SmartThings-based ‘connected home’ is playing a very important role,” Park said. “Samsung Electronics has built a powerful ecosystem based on SmartThings, with more than 460 million subscribers, and Samsung Health, with 77 million users.”
“An AI-based connected ecosystem will become a ‘daily companion’ that knows when and what I need, helping individuals achieve their personal health goals,” Park said, presenting a business blueprint combining healthcare and AI five years from now.
Samsung Electronics provides digital healthcare services that help users manage their health, centered on mobile devices such as Galaxy smartphones and the Galaxy Watch. Samsung’s plan is to enhance quality and grow its user base by linking healthcare services with a variety of AI home appliances, including appliances and TVs, through SmartThings. Samsung Electronics connects various devices through SmartThings to support a range of services, from personal daily life to pet care. The company is also expanding its healthcare partners, including Xealth, Generation Lab, and Sib.Health.
At the panel discussion, held before an audience of about 1,000 people, Park was joined by speakers including David Lee, head of Samsung Next, Mike McSherry, CEO of Xealth, Alina Su, CEO of Generation Lab, and Michael Dubrovsky, CEO of Sib.Health, who emphasized Samsung Electronics-led partnerships under the theme “An Invitation to a Healthier Tomorrow.” “The future of health cannot be built by a single company alone,” Lee said. “It can be created through the innovation and collaborative ecosystem of multiple companies.”
