Doosan (000150.KS) is launching a comprehensive business collaboration with LG CNS spanning artificial intelligence (AI), energy and robotics.
Doosan said Wednesday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG CNS to secure global competitiveness in data centers, hydrogen drone logistics, AI transformation (AX) and robot transformation (RX) businesses. The agreement was signed at LG Science Park in Magok-dong, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both companies, including Doosan Corporation President Yoo Seung-woo and LG CNS President Hyun Shin-kyun.
The two companies plan to form a business cooperation body within one month from the date of signing and establish detailed operational plans. They will first seek synergies in the data center and cloud businesses.
The companies will work out specifics for introducing high-efficiency hydrogen fuel cells (PEMFC) from Doosan Mobility Innovation into LG CNS’s data centers. They will also discuss ways to advance the cloud and data center infrastructure operated by Doosan Corporation based on LG CNS’s technological capabilities.
The two companies will also pursue logistics innovation using eco-friendly mobility. They plan to develop cooperation measures to fully launch the hydrogen fuel cell-based vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft logistics business that the two companies have been pursuing since last year.
In RX and AX, the two companies will combine their advanced technologies. They will integrate hydrogen fuel cells with LG CNS’s robot learning and operation platform “PhysicalWorks” to develop businesses related to robots and humanoids. To strengthen Doosan’s agentic AI competitiveness, they also agreed to identify specific use cases based on LG CNS’s agentic AI platform and jointly establish an application roadmap.
In addition, the two companies agreed to work together to build an autonomous maintenance system (predictive maintenance, PdM), including proposing “anomaly diagnosis and maintenance scenarios” that incorporate agentic AI, hydrogen drones and digital twin technology for manufacturing and power generation facilities and large plants.
“We will create synergy effects by combining LG CNS’s unrivaled AX and RX capabilities with the technological capabilities of a strong partner like Doosan,” President Hyun said. “We will quickly produce cooperation results that lead to actual commercialization, from AI equipment prediction at manufacturing sites to industrial innovation using robots.”
“We will build a new business model by combining Doosan’s advanced technological capabilities accumulated in advanced materials, internet technology (IT) and energy with LG CNS’s AX capabilities,” President Yoo stressed. “Through this collaboration spanning data centers, robots and AI, we will further enhance the future value of both companies.”
