LG Electronics (066570.KS) said Tuesday it will launch two new Smart Cottage modular homes that combine artificial intelligence (AI) with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technology.
The LG Smart Cottage is a modular home that integrates AI appliances and HVAC technology. It is built using a prefabrication method in which more than 70% of the main materials are produced in advance and then assembled on site. This shortens the construction period by more than 50% compared with conventional reinforced concrete methods.
LG Electronics plans to expand its customized residential solutions business through the new launch. With these products, LG Electronics now has a total of eight Smart Cottage models in its lineup.
“These new products will become an innovative residential solution that meets not only housing needs but also a variety of business demands, based on more spacious interiors and reasonable prices,” said Cho Yeon-woo, head of LG Electronics’ Smart Cottage Company.
The newly introduced products are single-story models in the 20-pyeong range: the MONO Core 72 and the MONO Core 82. Their areas are 72.9 square meters (22 pyeong) and 82.1 square meters (25 pyeong), respectively. The new products consist of two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.
LG designed the Smart Cottage, its first model in the 20-pyeong range, so that it can be used not only for general residential purposes but also as commercial spaces such as corporate training centers and leisure and lodging facilities. Another feature is a more detailed option system that allows customers to directly choose furniture and storage configurations for each space.

The interiors come standard with the AI home hub “ThinQ ON,” along with Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as smart doors and smart switches, as well as a system air conditioner and a condensing boiler. “These new products are up to 76% cheaper than existing products in terms of per-pyeong price,” an LG Electronics official said.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics will display the MONO Core 72 at the Hyundai Premium Outlet Gimpo branch for two months starting Wednesday, allowing customers to experience the new product firsthand.
