Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) sold 1,966,267 vehicles globally in the first half of this year, the company said Tuesday.

The figure represents a 4.9% decline from 2,066,993 units in the same period last year. Domestic sales fell 10.8% to 354,900 units, while exports dropped 3.7% to 1,712,093 units.

In June, the company sold 338,313 vehicles, down 5.9% from a year earlier. Domestic sales totaled 58,232 units and overseas sales reached 280,081 units.

In the domestic market, sedan sales reached 20,253 units, including the Grandeur (10,062 units), Sonata (5,102 units) and Avante (4,316 units).

Recreational vehicles (RVs) sold 20,720 units, including the Palisade (4,211 units), Santa Fe (4,068 units) and Tucson (3,285 units).

Genesis recorded 7,936 units, including the G80 (2,944 units), GV70 (2,428 units) and GV80 (1,840 units).

“The new Grandeur, which has begun full-scale sales, is receiving a positive response from customers,” a Hyundai Motor official said. “In the second half of this year, we will launch competitive new models such as the all-new Avante and expand our market share through strategies to optimize production and sales.”
