Global music continues to blur every border. Jihyo, from the record-breaking K-pop group Twice, joins Grammy-nominated Jamaican artist Shenseea for their electrifying new collaboration, “Distant Lover,” arriving worldwide July 10 alongside its official music video.

Blending K-pop, rap, dancehall, and Afrobeats into an irresistible summer soundtrack, “Distant Lover” pairs two of music’s most dynamic female artists for a cross-market collaboration that reflects just how global today’s music landscape has become, where genres blur and fandoms connect across continents with ease.

At its core, “Distant Lover” captures one of modern dating’s most relatable experiences, the situationship. From dating apps to mixed signals to investing emotional energy in the wrong person, the track explores that uncertain space between romance and reality, the moment something that felt meaningful turns out to be anything but. Jihyo and Shenseea turn that familiar in-between phase into something confident and playful, transforming a universal frustration into a genuine anthem.

The collaboration also highlights a fresh creative side from both artists. Jihyo’s rich, soulful vocals pair naturally with Shenseea’s unmistakable flow and dancehall swagger, creating a record that feels both unexpected and instantly catchy.

“Distant Lover” marks the latest release from Fandom, the fan-owned platform launched by Musicow in partnership with Roc Nation Distribution, built to connect artists, music, and fans in new ways. The platform’s rollout began with January’s “Two Car Garage” by Jon Bellion and Swae Lee, which has already generated 4.9 million streams, including 3.69 million on Spotify and 653,000 on Apple Music, alongside strong TikTok momentum topping 256 million views across more than 160,000 creations.

Fandom’s second collaboration, May’s “Something Special” featuring actor and singer Ahn Hyo Seop alongside multi-platinum artist Khalid, has generated more than 7.2 million global streams, including 5.9 million on Spotify, with its official lyric video surpassing 988,000 views. That release sparked massive fan engagement too, generating more than 26 million views across TikTok and Instagram sounds and inspiring over 18,000 user-created videos, further cementing Fandom’s mission of connecting artists across cultures, genres, and audiences.

As international collaborations continue reshaping the industry, “Distant Lover” stands as another clear example of music’s growing ability to transcend geography, language, and genre, bringing together two globally celebrated artists for one unforgettable summer release. Unique box sets featuring limited edition photo cards and posters will also be available soon.
