The stocks most net-bought by high-return investors trading at Mirae Asset Securities on the morning of the 15th were Samsung Electronics (005930), Simmtech (222800), Doosan (000150), and Samsung SDI (006400), in that order.
According to Mirae Asset Securities that day, the stock most heavily purchased by “top stock traders” — those in the top 1% by investment returns over the past month among the brokerage’s trading customers — through 11 a.m. was Samsung Electronics. As of 11 a.m. that day, Samsung Electronics was trading at 279,000 won, up 16,000 won (6.08%) from the previous session. The gains came as semiconductor stocks were strong on the New York market overnight, and buying flowed into large-cap chip stocks amid a sense of relief over inflation following a slowdown in U.S. prices. With the stock having undergone a relatively deep correction, its valuation appeal was highlighted, drawing the choice of high-return investors.
Second in net buying was Simmtech, a maker of semiconductor package substrates. At the same time, Simmtech was trading at 118,900 won, up 10,900 won (10.09%) from the previous session. As a sense of relief spread that global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor infrastructure remains strong, the warmth appeared to spread to related back-end processing and component stocks. Doosan (6.98%), a holding company, ranked third, followed by Samsung SDI (9.71%) in fourth, backed by energy storage system (ESS) momentum and expectations of improved earnings.
By contrast, the stock most heavily sold by the top traders that morning was SK hynix (000660). SK hynix was trading at 2,119,000 won, up 10.77%, helped by the boost from its American Depositary Receipts (ADR) surging around 27% on the U.S. market overnight. The move is interpreted as high-return investors taking profits after the stock rebounded strongly in a short period. Following that, second in selling was Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150) (11.59%), third was Samyang Foods (003230) (0.28%), and fourth was SK (9.96%). Fifth was Hanmi Semiconductor, which surged 26.99% during the session.
On the 14th, the previous trading day, the top net-bought stocks were APR (278470), Samsung Electronics preferred (005935), SK, and Dalba Global, in that order. As the KOSPI index repeatedly swung sharply during the session while searching for a bottom, bargain-hunting appears to have flowed in centered on beauty and holding company stocks that had fallen excessively. On the other hand, Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Alteogen, and LG Energy Solution were among the top net-sold stocks on the 14th.
