Naver has disclosed for the first time a list of the top 10 creators by category among producers of high-quality user-generated content (UGC) used in its artificial intelligence (AI) search service.
Naver announced the results of its first ‘Special Naver Mate’ selection on the 16th, while running its AI fellowship program ‘Naver Mate’ in beta.
‘Naver Mate’ is a program that selects about 3,000 people each month from among UGC creators who produce high-quality content on blogs and cafes based on expertise and diversity. The selection comprehensively evaluates the number of citations in ‘AI Briefing,’ a summary-type AI search service, along with topic-specific expertise and activity levels.
Among them, leading figures who consistently recorded their own experiences and know-how over a month, adding value to Naver’s AI ecosystem, are highlighted as ‘Special Naver Mate.’ Special Naver Mate consists of one representative creator and 10 outstanding creators in each of 10 categories, including travel, life and tech, for a total of 11 people per category (110 in total).
The 10 representative creators receive a special subsidy of 10 million won per month in addition to a basic activity fee of 300,000 won, while the 100 outstanding creators receive an additional 3 million won per month.
The representative creators in each of the 10 categories who were active during the month of June include: Naildong: Japan Travel Cafe (travel), Mangdi’s Meoklog (food), MJ’s Hudadak Recipe~♥ (recipe), GO OUT CASUALLY DRESSED (style), Photographer Shinnam’s IT World (tech), Momsholic Baby (life), Old Spice Ieumse (culture), Boneun Saram (media), Investment Notes That Record (insight), and Game Info (hobby).
Naver explained that these creators have proven their expertise and the value of their information by being continuously cited in AI Briefing since January this year.
In particular, blogs such as ‘Mangdi’s Meoklog’ and ‘Boneun Saram’ have steadily accumulated trend analyses and detailed reviews, while online cafes such as ‘Naildong’ and ‘Momsholic Baby’ received high marks for richly building up various everyday know-how based on active communication among users.
Lee Il-gu, head of Naver’s Content Service Division, said, “Together with the Naver Mates, we are exploring ways to activate a UGC ecosystem containing ‘people’s experiences and insights,’ whose value has grown even greater in the AI era.” He added, “We will continue various attempts to broaden consensus on good creators and content and to raise their influence and honor.”
In addition, Naver on the 1st also disclosed a list of 3,000 ‘Naver Mate’ creators active from July. As the topics of search queries in AI Briefing have diversified, about half of the total creators were filled with new figures.
