Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) said on the 16th that it is recruiting participants for “Forest Run 2026,” a running campaign for a sustainable future.
Since 2016, Hyundai Motor has run an eco-friendly social contribution campaign under the name “Longest Run,” in which participants join in forest creation by donating trees. Starting last year, when the campaign reached its 10th edition, the name was changed to “Forest Run” to further emphasize the meaning of tree planting.
To date, the campaign has drawn a cumulative total of about 250,000 participants, who have run a combined 7.47 million kilometers and planted 30,850 trees.
This year’s “Forest Run 2026” will be held on September 12 as a 10-kilometer course, starting from the Culture Plaza in Yeouido Park, passing over the Seogang Bridge, and returning after a turnaround point.
At this “Forest Run 2026,” marking its 11th anniversary, Hyundai Motor has selected the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian aid agency, as its official donation recipient and will join the Half Moon Project. The project contributes to the long-term ecosystem restoration of West Africa’s Sahel region, devastated by desertification, through soil restoration, water supply protection, and agricultural support.
Hyundai Motor has significantly expanded the donation amount per participant this year and plans to plant about 100,000 trees in Niger, located in the Sahel region, together with a total of 6,500 participants.
Customers who wish to participate can purchase donation participation tickets at Hyundai Shop starting from the 23rd. The ticket price is 50,000 won, and it will be sold in limited quantities to 6,500 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Forest Run is a running campaign to plant trees and create a clean world free of fine dust while running together with our customers,” a Hyundai Motor official said. “As we are expanding the scale of tree planting and collaborating with the WFP this year, we hope more participants will join in a meaningful journey for a sustainable future.”
