Rain will fall across parts of the country from the afternoon of Constitution Day tomorrow, the 17th. The rain will expand nationwide from the following day and continue throughout the holiday.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 16th, rain is forecast to begin in the Seoul metropolitan area from the afternoon of the 17th.
The Chungcheong region, the southern regions, and Jeju Island will be cloudy or see rain due to the influence of a stationary front. As the stationary front gradually moves north, rain will fall in the Seoul metropolitan area from the afternoon.
Expected rainfall totals are 20 to 60 millimeters for Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong; 30 to 80 millimeters for North Jeolla, Gwangju, South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang; 20 to 60 millimeters for Daegu and North Gyeongsang; and 5 to 10 millimeters for Jeju Island.
On the 18th, rain will expand nationwide, with 50 to 150 millimeters expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and more than 200 millimeters in some heavy-rain areas of southern Gyeonggi. Heavy rain of 50 to 80 millimeters per hour is expected, centered on the Seoul metropolitan area and the central region.
Morning lows in major regions are 23 degrees in Seoul, 23 degrees in Chuncheon, 23 degrees in Gangneung, 23 degrees in Daejeon, 24 degrees in Daegu, 24 degrees in Jeonju, 25 degrees in Gwangju, and 26 degrees in Jeju. Daytime highs are forecast at 32 degrees in Seoul, 31 degrees in Chuncheon, 29 degrees in Gangneung, 30 degrees in Daejeon, 32 degrees in Daegu, 30 degrees in Jeonju, 30 degrees in Gwangju, and 31 degrees in Jeju.
The highest apparent temperature nationwide will soar to 31 degrees, and Jeju Island will rise to around 33 degrees. For the time being, nighttime temperatures will not drop sufficiently overnight, and tropical night conditions, in which nighttime lows stay at 25 degrees or higher, will also occur.
Fine dust concentrations will register at “good” to “moderate” levels across all regions.
