Hanwha Vision (489790) has officially kicked off its push into the public sector market by securing the highest level of video security certification from South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS). This certification is significant because it goes beyond mere product competitiveness, representing official recognition from a state agency of core security technology capable of countering increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Hanwha Vision announced on the 23rd that four models from its AI CCTV lineup have obtained the NIS’s ‘Security Function Verification Certificate.’ The NIS’s security verification is considered a mandatory qualification for supplying video security equipment to public institutions in South Korea. Because it requires meeting the nation’s highest safety standards and stringent security specifications, it also serves as a crucial trust indicator in the private sector, particularly in security-sensitive industries like finance.
The products that passed the certification are four models from Hanwha Vision’s flagship ‘P Series AI 4K’ camera lineup (Box, Dome, Bullet, and Vandal). These products met the three core security requirements strictly mandated by the NIS—data protection, software security, and access control—to a high standard.
Specifically, the products applied government-designated encryption technology across the entire process of video generation, transmission, and storage, fundamentally blocking the possibility of eavesdropping. An anti-tampering mechanism was also applied to prevent video alteration, and the possibility of data leakage through physical means, such as the theft of storage devices, was completely blocked. Software-level security was also significantly strengthened to prepare for increasingly intelligent cyberattacks.
Leveraging this certification, Hanwha Vision plans to further accelerate its penetration of the public market in the second half of this year. The strategy is to significantly expand its product portfolio in the public sector and increase market share by introducing an additional 14 new video security products, including AI CCTVs, within the second half.

Particularly in the video security sector, it is recognized as an essential gateway for entering the public procurement market, so this certification is expected to have a positive impact on winning future large-scale CCTV replacement and construction projects for government agencies and local municipalities.
