President Lee Jae Myung will hold a dinner with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and other global artificial intelligence (AI) industry leaders in San Francisco to discuss ways to expand cooperation between South Korea and the U.S.

President Lee will have dinner with global AI leaders at a local restaurant favored by AI researchers and citizens in San Francisco, presidential spokesman Kang Yoo-jung said in a written briefing on the 24th (local time).

The dinner will be attended by Nvidia CEO Jensen Hwang, Broadcom President and CEO Oh Tan, Microsoft Azure Hardware President Rani Borkar, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and Naver Board Chairman Lee Hae-jin among those attending the San Francisco AI Summit.

Cheong Wa Dae explained that the market capitalization of the participating companies based on the latest closing prices amounted to about KRW 1.7 trillion. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyounghun and Blue House Policy Director Yongbum Kim will also be present, with around 10 participants.

The dinner menu will consist of local California foods such as fish and chips, fried kalamari (squid), crab cakes, and clam chowder, and will be accompanied by light beer.

The meeting was designed to strengthen the bond and willingness of AI entrepreneurs between South Korea and the U.S. through formal dining, just as CEO Jensen Hwang built a friendship by meeting “Chimaek” and “Pork Belly” with the heads of South Korean companies during his visit to Korea last year.

Senior spokesman Kang said, “We plan to inform the world that Korea is a key hub for the global AI supply chain by gathering global AI leaders around President Lee and emphasize the AI vision of ‘irreplaceable Korea’.”
