Naver succeeded in raising $10 billion (about 14.7 trillion won) from Nvidia and Brookfield and attracted $1 billion (about 1.47 trillion won) in equity investments to solidify its alliance. Naver plans to take the lead in the global AI factory market by not only developing artificial intelligence (AI) models and technologies but also creating infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Naver announced on the 27th that it will carry out a third-party allocation paid-in capital increase of 7,241,564 shares for Nvidia by promoting a joint AI factory construction project with Nvidia. It is larger than Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin (6,129,725 shares). The issuance price of new shares is KRW 204,500. The payment date is October 30th, and the scheduled date for listing new shares is November 20th. Naver will also retire 4.9 million shares of its own stock to prevent the new issuance from damaging the stock value of existing shareholders.<\/p>\n

Naver, Nvidia, and Brookfield announced a strategic partnership to promote AI factory projects at the Nvidia headquarters in Santa Clara, California on the 24th (local time). It plans to build a super-large data center and secure a large amount of graphics processing units (GPUs) to generate sales. It is expected that Naver, which has been evaluated as domestic use, will be able to overcome the limit.<\/p>\n

Naver will lead the search, construction, and operation of the data center site. Nvidia supplies GPUs reliably. Brookfield’s investment will be invested in expanding the data center “Gaksejong” located in Jiphyeonjeon, Sejong City. Naver aims to operate each Sejong at 200 megawatts (MW) in 2028 and eventually expand it to 1 gigawatt (GW). Based on the know-how of establishing and managing a hyperscale data center, it has decided to target the demand for Sovereign AI in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and region.<\/p>\n

The background of Nvidia’s direct investment in Naver is Naver’s full-stack AI capabilities. Naver is one of the few operators in the world that has integrated AI ecosystems not only with its own Large Language Model (LLM) but also with infrastructure and services. In particular, the fact that Nvidia’s supercomputing infrastructure was commercialized for the first time in 2019 and the core technologies that move the data center were internalized in accordance with the AI workload environment also increased the attractiveness of participating in the investment.<\/p>\n
