President Yongbum Kim’s chief policy officer, Lee Jae Myung, who is conducting a state visit to Brazil, said on the 29th (local time) that “the overall situation, not only the leverage ETF, should be checked” regarding the volatility of the domestic stock market.<\/p>\n

“The Financial Services Commission and the Financial Supervisory Service will examine the structural factors that are particularly volatile (in the Korean stock market),” Kim told reporters at a press center in Sao Paulo.<\/p>\n

“This phenomenon may seem more pronounced with leverage ETFs, but it is not necessarily so,” head of the department Kim said. “It is time to take a serious look at the large proportion of derivatives in Korea and the composition of investors.”<\/p>\n

He said, “Even if the debate over semiconductors and AI is concluded this time, it could happen a few more similarly. Whenever that happens, if it becomes the world’s most volatile market, investors will also be very concerned,” he said, stressing that the cause should be analyzed accurately.<\/p>\n
