It uses an advanced OLED panel that limits off-axis viewing angles, preventing people standing next to the user from seeing what is on the screen. However, this technology also comes with a higher price tag.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from Counterpoint Research (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelec.kr\/news\/articleView.html?idxno=60375\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">via ETNews<\/a>), the OLED panel used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra costs Samsung between $88 and $96.\n<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, the OLED panel on the Galaxy S23 Ultra cost $84, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra display cost $88. The OLED panel in the Galaxy S25 Ultra was estimated to cost between $84 and $88. As a result, the panel used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra is roughly 9% more expensive than the one in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nGalaxy S23 Ultra: $84 per OLED panel\n<\/p>\n<p>\nGalaxy S24 Ultra: $88 per OLED panel\n<\/p>\n<p>\nGalaxy S25 Ultra: $84-$88 per OLED panel\n<\/p>\n<p>\nGalaxy S26 Ultra: $88-96 per OLED panel\n<\/p>\n<p>Manufactured by Samsung Display, the Galaxy S26 Ultra&#8217;s OLED panel, called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/galaxy-s26-ultra-privacy-display-ai\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/galaxy-s26-ultra-privacy-display-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Flex Magic Pixel<\/a>, features two sets of RGB light emitters. One set provides a wide viewing angle, while the other offers a narrow viewing angle. The narrow-angle emitters use a multi-layer black matrix (BM) to block light emitted toward the sides.\n<\/p>\n<p>When Privacy Display is activated, only the narrow-angle light emitters turn on, restricting side-angle visibility. Manufacturing these specialized pixels requires additional Thin Film Transistor (TFT) masks during the Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) process. This adds extra steps, such as deposition, etching, and photolithography, which ultimately increases overall production time and costs.\n<\/p>\n<p>While Privacy Display is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, reports indicate that Samsung will expand the feature to all four models in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-everything-to-know\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galax<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">y<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-everything-to-know\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> S27<\/a> series next year: the Galaxy S27, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-plus-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Galaxy S27+<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-pro-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Galaxy S27 Pro<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-galaxy-s27-ultra-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Galaxy S27 Ultra<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>With RAM and storage prices already soaring (3x to 5x for LPDDR5X RAM and 1.2x to 2.2x for UFS 4.0 storage), the added cost of Privacy Display could push Galaxy S27 pricing to eye-watering levels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Samsung introduced the groundbreaking Privacy Display feature with the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year.
