[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] DAY6 YOUNG K revealed that he lost 10kg by eating one meal a day for his music video shoot.<\/p>\n

YOUNG K met with Hanteo News at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul on the 22nd and talked about his 2nd full-length album ‘YOUNGEST.’ On this day, YOUNG K drew laughter by saying, \u201cThe CEO told me, \u2018The song was good, the music video came out well, and you dried out well,\u2019\u201d adding, \u201cWhen I filmed the music video, that was my prime time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The secret to his weight loss was a strict diet. YOUNG K, known in the entertainment industry as a representative \u201cfood expert,\u201d said, \u201cIt worked when I cut that, food, out,\u201d adding, \u201cI lost weight by eating only one serving for one meal a day.\u201d He said he did not do any separate exercise. YOUNG K explained, \u201cGetting through my schedules was my exercise,\u201d adding, \u201cThe weight gradually went down over about three to four months.\u201d When asked whether his creative drive was maintained even while he was hungry, he said, \u201cI think I am relatively less sensitive when I have not slept or when I am hungry,\u201d adding, \u201cI think the body my parents gave me has pretty good stamina, so every time I talk to them on the phone, I tell them I am grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also gave an honest answer about royalties. YOUNG K said, \u201cMy father manages my royalties, so I do not actually know which song brings in the most money,\u201d adding, \u201cRecently, I logged into the copyright association website and clicked the popularity ranking, and \u2018HAPPY\u2019 came up first.\u201d He continued, \u201cIt is fascinating that a B-side track, not even a title track, achieved that kind of result,\u201d drawing laughter as he added, \u201cSo I thought, if there is a song like that among the 14 B-sides on this album, why don\u2019t you raise your head and show yourself.\u201d When asked to predict a dark horse among the 14 tracks, he answered, \u201cAs with \u2018HAPPY,\u2019 those things come from a completely unexpected place, so I do not dare say anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were also differences in how he works on group songs and solo songs. YOUNG K said, \u201cFor group songs, it has to work no matter who becomes the speaker, so I tend to leave a lot of blank spaces,\u201d adding, \u201cI thought a lot about lyrics that anyone could insert their own story into, and that could suit anyone regardless of age or gender.\u201d He continued, \u201cThis time, there are songs like \u2018Yonge St.,\u2019 which contains my own memories, and there is also a song called \u2018SPIKE,\u2019 which I wrote after enjoying a volleyball manga and thinking that I wanted to write a song that would suit that manga,\u201d explaining, \u201cIt is a song that came from the manga ‘Haikyu!!’\u201d<\/p>\n

He also honestly opened up about the pressure of DAY6\u2019s achievements. YOUNG K said, \u201cWe were the kind of friends who only began to achieve results years after our releases,\u201d adding, \u201cIf we had seen numerical results from the beginning, we might have expected that every time and felt disappointed when they did not come. But because it took such a long time for that period to arrive, I think all that remains is gratitude that we are able to experience it.\u201d He also shared, \u201cI think continuing to make music for a long time itself is very difficult,\u201d adding, \u201cI am truly relieved and grateful that I can make this my livelihood, and I am at a point where I just hope I can keep doing it more and more.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also confessed his love-hate relationship with music. YOUNG K said, \u201cWhen I was young, music was something I could enjoy, but I do not think I dreamed of becoming a singer,\u201d adding, \u201cSomehow, I ended up joining JYP and becoming a trainee, and I thought that this job and my personality might not fit perfectly, and that the moment music became my work, the enjoyment could become a little lower.\u201d He continued, \u201cI also had a lot of doubt that compared to the true musicians around me and how much they loved music, I did not seem to love it to that extent. But as I worked hard to survive, it became more and more fun,\u201d adding, \u201cNow I have reached a point where I hope I can stand on stage, make music, and sing for as long as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
