Kakao Mobility has successfully wrapped up “AI Junior Lab 6th,” a social contribution program that supports the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities among future talent.<\/p>\n
According to Kakao Mobility on the 4th, the company held the 6th AI Junior Lab over four days and three nights from the 29th of last month to the 1st of this month at the “Kakao AI Campus” in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.<\/p>\n
AI Junior Lab is a future talent development program that Kakao Mobility has operated since 2023 together with the social welfare corporation Children and Future Foundation. Starting with the 6th cohort, the program changed its name from the previous “Junior Lab” to “AI Junior Lab,” strengthening its AI-centered curriculum, while expanding its recruitment target and size to 50 middle school students nationwide to provide more educational opportunities.<\/p>\n
Participating students carried out missions to solve everyday inconveniences under the concept of “a secret research lab that only accepts requests of unknown origin.” They personally experienced the process of discovering problems on their own, designing solutions, and then implementing them as actual services.<\/p>\n
In particular, this 6th cohort fully restructured its educational curriculum around “physical AI,” in which digital intelligence solves real-world problems on its own. Students carried out projects using “vibe coding,” which involves coding in natural language, along with AI technology to actually control and operate various robots such as robotic arms, serving and guide robots, and companion robots. In addition, current employees of Kakao Mobility working in planning, development, design, and marketing participated as mentors and communicated with the students.<\/p>\n
At the showcase held on the final day, the physical AI projects completed by the students were unveiled before their families. Applying AI technology, they implemented creative ideas to solve everyday inconveniences in the form of actual services, including a mobile safety robot to prevent secondary accidents on roads, an AI detection robot to help quickly find lost children at large shopping centers, an AI companion service to ease the anxiety of pedestrians at night, and a customized route guidance system for wheelchair users.<\/p>\n
