A heat emergency alert has expanded across all of Seoul as sweltering heat continued for days, centered on the greater metropolitan area.<\/p>\n

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued an additional heat emergency alert, the highest-level advisory, for northeastern and northwestern Seoul on the 4th. Following the southeastern and southwestern areas the previous day, the heat emergency alert now covers all of Seoul. The alert for Seoul took effect at 11 a.m. that day.<\/p>\n

A heat emergency alert is issued in areas where the daily maximum perceived temperature has been 35\u00b0C or higher for two or more days, and when the daily maximum perceived temperature is expected to reach 38\u00b0C or higher, or the maximum temperature is expected to reach 39\u00b0C or higher. As of 1 p.m. that day, the temperature in Seoul was 35.6\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

At the same time, heat emergency alerts also took effect in Osan, Hanam, western Yeoju, Goyang, Anseong, southern Paju, northeastern Yongin, northwestern Yongin and southeastern Yeoju in Gyeonggi Province, in Jeonju in North Jeolla Province, and in Jangseong and northern Gokseong in South Jeolla Province. Earlier, heat emergency alerts had already been in effect in Boseong, Yeosu and Gwangyang in South Jeolla Province since the 1st, and in Suncheon and southern Gokseong in South Jeolla Province and eastern Gwangju since the previous day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"People cross the street on Yeoui-daero in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 3rd amid a continuing heat wave.
