At the same time, futures contracts for 10 stocks removed from the market’s benchmark indices during rebalancing will be delisted.

According to the Korea Exchange on Monday, the newly listed futures comprise 4 on the KOSPI market and 14 on the KOSDAQ market, totaling 18 contracts. The selection reflects the June rebalancing of the KOSPI 200 and KOSDAQ 150 indices, with underlying securities chosen based on the eligibility criteria.

On the KOSPI market, DB HiTek, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, OCI, and Dalba Global will be newly added. The KOSDAQ market will see 14 additions: BHI, Seojin System, Sungho Electronics, SPG, Aimed Bio, Orum Therapeutics, Oscotec, Olix, Wooree E&G, Wonik Holdings, Taesung, PSK Holdings, Hana Micron, and Hyundai Movex.

Two new single-stock options will be listed on the KOSPI market: Hyosung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Autoever.

The exchange said it “selected underlying stocks with high expected demand based on market capitalization, trading volume, and market feedback.”

Conversely, stocks removed from the benchmark indices during the rebalancing will be excluded as underlying assets for futures. The delisted futures include 4 KOSPI-listed names—GKL, GS Engineering & Construction, GC Holdings, and Sebang Global Battery—and 6 KOSDAQ-listed names: Golfzon, Dongkuk Pharmaceutical, Medytox, Seoul Semiconductor, EcoPro HN, and Kolmar BNH.

These stocks do not have listed options, so only their futures contracts will be delisted. When the composition of the KOSPI 200 and KOSDAQ 150 changes, the exchange adjusts the underlying assets of derivative products accordingly. By reflecting index rebalancing results in the derivatives market, the exchange aims to help investors align their hedging and investment strategies with index changes.

Single-stock futures and options are derivative instruments that trade on the future price of individual stocks, primarily used by institutional investors and hedge funds. With retail participation in derivatives trading on South Korean exchanges on the rise, market watchers are paying close attention to how this expansion will affect market liquidity.

South Korea’s Korea Exchange will list 18 new single-stock futures and 2 single-stock options on September 14.
