TikTok creator Seth (@rideswithseth) laid out the whole shabang in a video posted in July. \u201cEverybody tells you that Hyundai\u2019s<\/a> got a 10-year warranty, and that\u2019s true,\u201d he says to start the video. \u201cBut here\u2019s the part nobody explains.\u201d<\/p>\n Hyundai\u2019s 10-Year, 100,000-Mile Warranty: What Does It Cover?<\/p>\n It\u2019s important to know the difference in warranties before you get to the service counter, Seth says.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, that big 10-year, 100,000-mile number? That\u2019s the powertrain warranty. Engine, transmission\u2014that\u2019s the headline. But the one you\u2019ll actually use more. That\u2019s the bumper to bumper. Five years, 60,000 miles,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n Why would you use that bumper-to-bumper warranty more?<\/p>\n \u201cIt covers pretty much everything else\u2014your electronics, your infotainment. The little annoying stuff that breaks. That\u2019s the real value right there,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n Of course, Seth says, that is for the original owner. If a customer purchases a Hyundai<\/a> through a private sale, that will change the terms<\/a>.<\/p>\n “It drops to 5 years, 60,000 miles for the powertrain, too. So if that 10-year really matters to you, buy it new or buy it certified,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n What Can Void Your Hyundai Warranty?<\/p>\n There is one big catch that Seth wants people to be aware of before making a final decision on their next vehicle.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd the one thing that will void it?\u201d he asks. \u201cSkipping your maintenance and not keeping records. You can go wherever. But keep your receipts, because no records, no proof, and they can deny the claim.\u201d<\/p>\n In the comments section of the video, viewers offered their opinions on Hyundai\u2019s 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty.<\/p>\n \u201cHyundai and Kia both have the best new car warranty for original buyers,\u201d wrote one viewer.<\/p>\n A second person said, \u201cThat\u2019s BS that it\u2019s not transferable. Just avoid these companies altogether.\u201d Seth replied, \u201cIt is partially transferable. The 10-year, 100K drops to 5-year, 60K miles.\u201d<\/p>\n And another person claimed, \u201cHyundai [refuses] to honor their own warranties. Only way you can get anything paid for is to hire an attorney and sue them.\u201d<\/p>\n Seth disagreed. \u201cAs someone that works at a Hyundai dealership as the service to sales\/acquisition manager, I see warranty items covered every day. It\u2019s like any other warranty. You [just] have to get your service done and not modify the vehicle in ways that void your warranty.\u201d<\/p>\n Does Hyundai Offer \u2018America\u2019s Best\u2019 Warranty?<\/p>\n Hyundai\u2019s website<\/a> lays out the warranty policy more or less as Seth describes. The Powertrain Limited Warranty is good for 10 years or 100,000 miles. It covers replacement of selected engine and transmission components<\/a>. If the car is sold, the new owner will maintain a 5-year, 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty.<\/p>\n And, yes, the 5-year, 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty covers repair or replacement of any defective Hyundai<\/a> component, including radio and audio systems, paint, battery, air conditioner refrigerant charge, adjustments, and wear items.<\/p>\n Hyundai owners on this Reddit thread<\/a> posted about four years ago discussed the terms as well, noting as Seth did that customers can still secure the full warranty by purchasing a certified pre-owned Hyundai<\/a> from a dealership.<\/p>\n Motor1 contacted Seth via TikTok comment and direct message for comment.
