Leeno Industrial (058470.KQ) rose 7.61%, Wonik IPS (240810.KQ) gained 11.44%, EO Technics (039030.KQ) climbed 10.02%, and PSK (319660.KQ) surged 12.08%. Simmtech (222800.KQ) also posted gains in the 5% range.

The stock surge followed SK Hynix’s disclosure on August 7 that its board had resolved to invest 35.2 trillion won in the Yongin Phase 2 fab (Y2) and 19.1 trillion won in the Cheongju NAND production base M17 fab. This extends the mid-to-long-term investment strategy announced in June, under which SK Hynix aims to complete construction of four fabs at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster by 2033 — 12 years ahead of the originally scheduled 2045 completion date.

According to the Seoul Economic Daily, while large-scale investment blueprints totaling 800 trillion won (approximately $563.6 billion) — including the southwestern semiconductor cluster plan — have been unveiled this year, the market viewed this specific board resolution with concrete investment amounts and timelines as a strong signal of credibility. The perception that actual execution is imminent, rather than just another announcement, appears to have stimulated investor sentiment.

The equipment stock rally was also supported by improved supply-demand dynamics across the Kosdaq market. Foreign and institutional investors net purchased 105.4 billion won (approximately $74.2 million) and 566.1 billion won (approximately $398.7 million) respectively in the Kosdaq market, driving the index higher. The Kosdaq index closed up 6.97% at 854.47, and at 9:50 a.m., a buy-side circuit breaker was triggered as the Kosdaq 150 futures index rose more than 6% from the previous close while the spot index gained over 3%, with the trend sustained for one minute.

The Kosdaq rally extended beyond semiconductor equipment stocks. Alteogen (196170.KQ), the largest company by market capitalization on the index, surged 14.26%, driven by global asset manager BlackRock’s increased stake and strong earnings results. Broad strength among large-cap stocks helped lift the index.

SK Hynix’s investment decision is interpreted as a preemptive capacity expansion strategy amid rapid growth in the AI memory semiconductor market. By significantly accelerating the Yongin cluster completion timeline and simultaneously confirming investment execution for the Cheongju NAND base, expectations are growing that order momentum for South Korean semiconductor equipment companies will strengthen considerably in the years ahead.

SK Hynix (000660.KS) has finalized plans to invest approximately 54 trillion won (approximately $38.0 billion) in new fabs…

[20
406,10828,57562,56764,29022,336,49097,45336,45892,241,275,24709,2693
post-114427","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sk-hynix","tag-alteogen","tag-blackrock","tag-cheongju-m17","tag-eo-technics","tag-jusung-engineering","tag-kosdaq","tag-leeno-industrial","tag-psk","tag-simmtech","tag-sk","tag-sk-hynix","tag-wonik-ips","tag-yongin-semiconductor-cluster
["GET
