Connected vehicle penetration across HMIL’s portfolio has increased five-fold from 4 per cent in 2019 to 20 per cent in 2026, reflecting rising customer adoption of connected technologies.

HMIL said it is targeting 2 million cumulative connected car sales by 2030, building on its connected mobility ecosystem powered by 1.2 million lines of code.

“The growing adoption of connected vehicles reflects the evolving expectations of customers and the increasing role of technology in shaping mobility,” said Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, HMIL.

Towards software-defined vehicles

HMIL introduced its Bluelink connected car technology in 2019 with the Hyundai Venue, which the company describes as India’s first OEM-fitted connected SUV.

Since then, Hyundai has progressively expanded its connected technology capabilities. In 2020, it introduced OTA map updates with the i20, followed by next-generation AVNT connected technology in 2022.

In 2025, the company introduced its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with Controller OTA update capability, marking a further step in its SDV roadmap.

The technology allows vehicles to receive software enhancements over the air, enabling them to remain updated with new features and functionality over time.

HMIL said models such as the Creta, Venue and i20 have been key to customer adoption of its connected technologies.

Hyundai Bluelink offers customers more than 70 features across safety, security and convenience.

These include remote vehicle monitoring, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, trip history, remote commands, in-car payments through Hyundai Pay, Digital Key, Digital Passport, Remote Immobiliser and Home-to-Car Connectivity.

The system also supports more than 450 AI-powered voice commands across five languages.

The automaker said its connected technology is also increasingly being used for safety and emergency assistance.

Bluelink has assisted more than 0.5 million motorists through SOS and roadside assistance services and supported around 15,000 crash notification interventions. The technology has also assisted law-enforcement agencies in vehicle tracing and recovery.

Features such as Driving Score and Digital Passport are aimed at helping customers adopt safer driving practices and more proactive vehicle maintenance through personalised insights.

Deeper integration ahead

HMIL said its next phase of connected mobility will focus on deeper integration of software, connectivity and electrification.

The company’s upcoming mass-market electric SUV will offer next-generation connected car technology as standard across all variants, according to Garg.

“This marks an important step in strengthening the convergence of connected and electric mobility while delivering future-ready ownership experiences for customers,” he said.

With connected vehicle penetration currently at 20 per cent, HMIL is seeking to significantly expand adoption over the next few years as it moves towards its 1 million connected-car sales target in 2027 and 2 million by 2030.

Published On Aug 10, 2026 at 12:03 PM IST

Join the community of 2M+ industry professionals.
Subscribe to Newsletter to get latest insights & analysis in your inbox.

All about ETAuto industry right on your smartphone!

HMIL introduced its Bluelink connected car technology in 2019 with the Hyundai Venue, which the company describes as…

[21
58993,58992,58990,24703,58991,295,702,4389,10985
post-114463","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hyundai-motor","tag-auto-tech","tag-auto-technology-news","tag-connected-cars","tag-connected-mobility","tag-connected-technology","tag-hyundai","tag-hyundai-motor","tag-hyundai-motor-india","tag-software-defined-vehicle
["GET
