Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) has opened an exhibition space that brings together seven years of innovation in its Galaxy foldable phone technology.<\/p>\n

The company said on the 11th that it has been running the “Foldable Heritage” exhibition on a permanent basis since the 10th on the third floor of Samsung Gangnam in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The exhibition is also on display at Samsung Store Hongdae and Cheongdam.<\/p>\n

The exhibition traces the evolution of foldable technology from the Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s first foldable smartphone unveiled in 2019, through its recently released Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.<\/p>\n

The space is divided into three sections: the Galaxy Fold and Flip Story, the Design Story and the Tech Story.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy Fold and Flip Story presents the evolution of foldable smartphones in chronological form. Starting with the Galaxy Fold, the first in-folding foldable phone, it shows the progression of hardware and software technology through the Galaxy Z TriFold, a tri-fold device, to the Galaxy Z Fold8 with its new screen aspect ratio. It also highlights the development of key features such as Galaxy AI.<\/p>\n

The Design Story reveals the development process of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8, tracing the journey from early sketches through various mockup tests to the finished screen ratio and product design.<\/p>\n

The exhibition also devotes considerable attention to display and hinge technology, the core of foldable phones. The Tech Story lets visitors examine foldable display technology, the evolution of hinge structures and the testing process used to ensure product durability.<\/p>\n

In particular, the “Flex Titanium” technology applied to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 is displayed through video and actual products. Samsung uses this to explain how it reduced product thickness while improving durability and reducing the screen crease.<\/p>\n

Durability tests conducted during product development, including folding tests, water-resistance tests and impact tests, are also shown on video. An exhibit disassembling the internal components of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 lets visitors see the ultra-precise component design and internal space optimization technology.<\/p>\n

“Foldable Heritage is a space that captures seven years of Samsung Electronics’ innovation and technological capability in pioneering a new category,” said Park Jung-mi, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Korea operations. “Visitors will be able to experience firsthand the technological innovation and challenges Samsung Electronics is undertaking to lead the future of foldables.”<\/p>\n

Foldable Heritage also runs permanently on the first floor of Samsung Store Hongdae and the first floor of Cheongdam. The Cheongdam location is centered on the Galaxy Fold and Flip Story section.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the recently released Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 sold 1.44 million units in domestic presales, setting a record for the highest presales of any Galaxy smartphone.<\/p>\n
