Photo courtesy of SK ecoplant<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">SK Ecoplant is accelerating the expansion of its AI infrastructure business by creating a dedicated organization to secure a leading position in the market for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers (DC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">SK Ecoplant said on the 13th that it had carried out a reorganization consolidating functions previously scattered across its business, engineering and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) divisions into a newly created &#8220;AI Data Center (AI DC) Division.&#8221; The move is designed to respond preemptively to surging demand for AI data centers while maximizing competitiveness by building an integrated system spanning from planning through construction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">AI data centers have higher power density and system complexity than ordinary buildings, requiring comprehensive technical capabilities that go beyond simple construction. In response, SK Ecoplant is raising the level of its design work in mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems while developing standardized models to guarantee stable quality. The company expects the reorganization to add momentum to advancing and implementing the related strategy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">The consolidation is in line with SK Group&#8217;s broader vision of building an &#8220;AI Full Stack&#8221; service. AI Full Stack refers to the capability to provide, in an integrated manner, every stage needed to deliver AI services, including infrastructure, hardware and platforms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">SK Group is accelerating its investment in AI data centers in step with growing global demand for AI. It is pursuing the development of data centers with a combined capacity of 15 gigawatts at major sites nationwide, including an AI DC project in Ulsan carried out in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). SK Ecoplant plans to solidify its role in the group&#8217;s AI ecosystem through work such as building semiconductor fabrication plants (FAB), supplying materials and constructing AI DC infrastructure. The company has also drawn up plans to gain an edge in future bidding contests by establishing a system that can reliably carry out multiple projects, based on in-house design capabilities and standardized construction methods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">An SK Ecoplant official said, &#8220;We will work to build a foundation for sustainable growth centered on advanced industries such as semiconductors and AI data centers.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A view of an AI data center server room.
