{"id":119533,"date":"2026-08-14T14:13:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T14:13:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/119533\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T14:13:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T14:13:18","slug":"hyundai-becomes-first-foreign-carmaker-to-produce-ev-in-turkiye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/119533\/","title":{"rendered":"Hyundai becomes first foreign carmaker to produce EV in T\u00fcrkiye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            KOCAEL\u0130<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6a7f16cec464c5147bc0ffec.jpg\" alt=\"Hyundai becomes first foreign carmaker to produce EV in T\u00fcrkiye\"\/><\/p>\n<p>South Korean automaker <a title=\"Hyundai\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/hyundai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hyundai<\/a> has begun mass <a title=\"Production\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/production\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">production<\/a> of its fully electric IONIQ 3 at its \u0130zmit plant following an investment of 250 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>The launch marks the first time an international carmaker has produced a fully electric passenger vehicle in <a title=\"T\u00fcrkiye\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/turkiye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T\u00fcrkiye<\/a>, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kac\u0131r said at a ceremony on Aug. 14.<\/p>\n<p>The plant will initially produce 30,000 IONIQ 3 vehicles annually.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the first time, an international automotive manufacturer is beginning production of a fully electric passenger vehicle in our country,\u201d Kac\u0131r said.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai said more than half of the \u0130zmit factory had been modernized over the past two years to accommodate electric vehicle production while retaining the flexibility to manufacture vehicles with different powertrains.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Mobis, part of Hyundai Motor Group, is also developing a battery-system assembly facility at the site.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1997, the \u0130zmit factory is Hyundai\u2019s first and longest-running overseas production plant outside South Korea.
